COVID Wellness Statement and Attendance Criteria

A printable copy of this statement is available here.

Current Revision: 15 August 2023

This applies to all attendees of events including and not limited to candidates, members, officers, advisors, and guests.

In order to contribute to a safe and inclusive in-person environment, Tau Beta Pi is requiring that you adhere to SDSU COVID guidelines at all events. Additionally, Tau Beta Pi requires a pre-event self-check at events, regardless of any changes to SDSU policies. Wearing masks is recommended.

As a candidate, member, or officer of Tau Beta Pi, it is of the utmost importance to have exemplary character. We expect that every attendee of a Tau Beta Pi event will demonstrate integrity and be considerate of others' health and wellbeing.

With that in mind, if you are feeling ill or were recently exposed to COVID-19 or Monkeypox, we kindly ask that you do not attend any Tau Beta Pi events until you are clear to attend again. You do NOT need to attend an event while sick in order to fulfill your candidate or member requirements. Tau Beta Pi is more than willing to work with you if a situation should arise, and rather you return to full health rather than attend and put others at risk.

All modifications to this policy will be announced in advance to allow you to gauge your level of comfort at upcoming events. As always, if you have any concerns or would like to discuss an individual situation, please do not hesitate to reach out to the officers (tau.beta.pi.cax@gmail.com).

Pre-Event Self-Check

We ask that every attendee perform a self-check prior to attending any event. If you must answer "yes" to any of the following, please stay home and do not attend at this time.

  1. I have a temperature that is 100.0 degrees F or higher.
  2. I am experiencing any unusual rashes or sores; cold or flu-like symptoms, which may include, but are not limited to, a fever, chills, cough, or shortness of breath; unexpected body aches; or a recent loss of taste or smell.
  3. I have been exposed to someone in the past 14 days who was, or has since tested, positive for COVID-19 or Monkeypox.

Additionally, if you recently attended a Tau Beta Pi event and now feel ill or have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or Monkeypox, you are required to report this to the chapter officers (tau.beta.pi.cax@gmail.com). No negative actions will result from this reporting. We need to be able to notify others who may have been exposed so they can take appropriate precautions as well as report the potential exposure to the university.

Cooperation with contact-tracing and other social-hygiene best-practices is an important part of keeping COVID-19 and other outbreaks under control as much as possible and keeping Tau Beta Pi (and all other organizations) in-person this semester.

We understand that this isn't anyone's ideal situation (not ours either), but we thank you for taking these steps to help make TBP events healthy, safe, and inclusive!
