OBJECTIVES:  Participants will make important contributions to
the College's ongoing research efforts. During this program, students
will acquire competence in: Defining a research problem; Learning
modern methods associated with a literature search; Designing
experiments; Acquiring data and performing subsequent analysis;
Preparing and giving reports and presentations; and Writing proposals
to prepare students for the tasks associated with graduate study and
research.

ELIGIBILITY
<p>Participants will be selected from applicants, who will be
U.S. citizens or permanent residents and who nominally will be juniors
or seniors in a related science or engineering field, meeting the
academic requirement of a 3.0/4.0 gpa.</p>

FUNDING
<p>Students selected for participation in this program will
receive a stipend of $5,000. Students with residence from outside the
Greater Houston area will receive a travel allowance to offset
transportation costs. Students will stay on campus in an apartment .
