OBJECTIVES:  Participants will make important contributions to<br>
the College's ongoing research efforts. During this program,
students<br>
will acquire competence in: Defining a research problem; Learning<br>
modern methods associated with a literature search; Designing<br>
experiments; Acquiring data and performing subsequent analysis;<br>
Preparing and giving reports and presentations; and Writing
proposals<br>
to prepare students for the tasks associated with graduate study and<br>
research. <br><br>
ELIGIBILITY<br>
&lt;p&gt;Participants will be selected from applicants, who will
be<br>
U.S. citizens or permanent residents and who nominally will be
juniors<br>
or seniors in a related science or engineering field, meeting the<br>
academic requirement of a 3.0/4.0 gpa.&lt;/p&gt;<br><br>
FUNDING<br>
&lt;p&gt;Students selected for participation in this program
will<br>
receive a stipend of $5,000. Students with residence from outside
the<br>
Greater Houston area will receive a travel allowance to offset<br>
transportation costs. Students will stay on campus in an apartment .<br>
