Dear Colleagues:
I am writing to bring to your attention a funding opportunity from
California Energy Commission, *Re: BRIDGE 2020 - Bringing Rapid Innovation
Development to Green Energy*. There are five focus areas (see the table
below), and it appears that all the focus areas are aligned with the
research interests in the College of Engineering. I have also attached the
GFO for your information.
*Groups*
*Eligible Technology Topics or Energy Applications*
*Group 1:* Energy Efficiency
· Solid-state lighting
· Non-vapor compression cooling
· Enabling technologies for advanced electric heat pumps
· Advanced materials and coatings for fenestration and
building envelopes
· Wastewater treatment, recycling, reuse (including
technologies such as electrochemical systems)
· Energy efficient irrigation
*Group 2:* Energy Storage
· Enabling technologies for lithium sulfur, lithium-metal,
and advanced lithium-ion batteries
· Flow batteries
· Ultra- or super-capacitors
· Non-lithium electrochemical battery
· Enabling technologies for green hydrogen for long duration
energy storage (including technologies such as electrolyzers and fuel cells)
· Thermal storage
· Mechanical energy storage (including technologies such as
pumped hydro, compressed air, gravitational, flywheel)
*Group 3:* Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning/Advanced Sensing
