Biography

Dr. Nguyen is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, San Diego State University. He received the B.Eng. with First Class Honors from Swinburne University of Technology, Hawthorn, Vic, Australia in 2005, the M.Sc. from the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, SK, Canada, in 2009, and the Ph.D. from McGill University, Montréal, Québec, Canada, in 2013. From 2013 to 2015, he held a joint appointment as a FRQNT Postdoctoral Research Fellow at INRS-EMT, Université du Québec and a Research Associate at McGill University. He was a Research Assistant at University of Houston in 2015 and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Texas at Austin in 2016.

Dr. Nguyen received a CAREER award from the National Science Foundation in 2022. He was a recipient of the Australian Development Scholarship (ADS), the McGill Engineering Doctoral Award, the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Nature et technologies (FRQNT) Doctoral Fellowship and Postdoctoral Fellowship, and the National Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Postdoctoral Fellowship. Dr. Nguyen received the BEST PAPER AWARD at the 2020 IEEE International Conference on Communications.
