As a follow up to the new voicemail system announcement below, attached is a
copy of the quick reference user guide in case you need it. This
information is also posted on our website: tns.sdsu.edu/voicemail.htm.

Please encourage your faculty and staff to set up their new mailbox as soon
as possible so people will get their personalized greeting once we switch
over to the new system on 5/31/13.

Thank you for your help!

Subject: New Voicemail System

SDSU Voicemail System will be replaced on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 5:30 p.m.

SDSU is replacing the voicemail system. Users are required to setup
their new mailbox, record name and greeting prior to cutover. No action
is required for department caller menus. The new system is very similar
to the old system so no training is required. We will also be keeping
the current voicemail access 4-7444 after system cutover. We do not
expect any downtime during the cutover.

How do I setup my new mailbox and record my greeting prior to system
cutover?

We created a temporary number to use between now and May 31, 2013. Note:
your
"password" is now called "security code" in the new system. Your mailbox
is the same as your five-digit extension. Access the new voicemail
system using one of the following three options:

1. From your office phone:
~ Dial 4-9292
~ Enter the default security code: AZTEC (2-9832)

2. From another campus phone:
~ Dial 4-9292
~ Press #
~ Enter your five-digit extension
~ Enter the default security code: AZTEC (2-9832)

3. From off-campus:
~ Dial 619-594-9292
~ Press #
~ Enter your five-digit extension
~ Enter the default security code: AZTEC (2-9832)

Complete tutorial to change security code and record your greeting:
~ Enter new security code (remember what you entered, 5-15 digits)
~ Record your name
~ Record your standard greeting

How do I pick up my messages from the new system after cutover?

After cutover, you will continue using the same 4-7444 to access the new
voice mail system. Dialing from on and off campus remain the same.
Messages will auto play - no more pressing 1 to play messages.

How long are my messages saved in the new system?

All new and saved messages will be stored in the system for 30 days.

What happens to messages on the old voicemail system after May 31?

After the system cutover, dial 4-7000 and use your old password to
access the system to pick up your messages. Please do not use the "reply
to" feature. The old system will be available through November 30, 2013.

Can I still set up my mailbox after cutover?

Yes, dial 4-7444 to set up your new mailbox and record your greeting.

Can people still leaves messages if I don't set up my new mailbox?

Callers will hear a default message, but still be able to leave messages.

What happens to my department's caller menus?

We are transferring your caller menu information (including greeting and
menu selection messages) from the old system to the new so they will
continue to work the same way. However, individual mailboxes associated
with a caller menu will still need to be set up by the user.
