Dean Hayhurst,
Eric Frost and I would like to personally invite you and your staff to tour
the Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demonstration (CWID 09), at SDSU's
Visualization Center and the Regional Technology Clearinghouse, June 17-25.
Interoperability trials will test technologies that could aid in area
emergency response efforts, including domestic and international
Humanitarian Assistance Disaster Relief. It includes software and
collaboration tools that have risen to significant notice within the
military and its efforts to collaborate with first responders, NGOs, and
other countries. Some of these tools may prove useful for San Diego efforts
with fires, earthquakes, floods, H1N1, and outreach to Mexico and many other
parts of the world. We would love to facilitate you building partnerships
with the participants and companies involved. Some of these tools could
also be of assistance to many groups besides the military and might assist
with some of the University's grant-writing efforts and capabilities to
assist our community and international colleagues and partnerships.
Standard one-hour tours are available June 17-25 only, 0700 through 0930
daily. Visitors must register in advance via the CWID web site.
Availability is limited and early registration is recommended.
You may register online at: http://www.cwid.js.mil <http://www.cwid.js.mil/>
MORE ABOUT CWID: The Department of Defense, U.S. Government, first response
agencies along with multi-national counterparts are sponsoring interoperable
technology trials at five U.S. and numerous international sites, involving
more than 20 coalition partners throughout the world.
The extensive capabilities of the U.S. Navy's Space and Naval Warfare
Systems Center Pacific will be teamed with San Diego State University to
demonstrate new technologies and discover potential solutions.
Real-world operators will work together real time on dynamic emergency
scenarios at SDSU's Visualization Center, which has been deeply involved in
domestic and international efforts for Humanitarian Assistance Disaster
Relief and all-hazards Homeland Security. During this exercise the center
will be configured as an Emergency Operations Center for the City of San
Diego, bringing in information from many sources, doing data fusion and
visualization, and providing decision support for community leaders as
during times of crisis.
Please visit the CWID web site for more information and visitor
instructions.
