The Center for Human Resources is hosting two sessions on the Saving Plus
Program this Friday in the Extended Studies Building Rm. 403.  The
announcement on SDSUniverse was inadvertently removed so many employees may
not have been notified.  Could you please forward this e-mail to employees
in your department?  This is a valuable workshop and the presenter will be
traveling from Northern California and will likely not be returning to the
area soon.

Employees who wish to attend should RSVP to Anita Borrega at

SAVINGS PLUS PROGRAM - Workshops for employees currently participating, or
who would like to participate, in the state's voluntary retirement Savings
Plus Program.
  
SDSU employees, including rehired annuitants, are invited to attend
workshops presented by the Savings Plus Program (the California State
University's 401k Thrift Plan and 457 Deferred Compensation Plan).
 
ENROLLING IN SAVINGS PLUS
Designed for employees who do not currently contribute to the Savings Plus
Program, this workshop will explain how tax deferred savings will help you
reach your retirement goals, the difference between a 401k and a 457 plan,
and how to get started.

Reducing debt and jumpstarting savings
 
Many employees find it hard to pay down credit card debt and start saving
for retirement. In this workshop we will focus on strategies that will help
you reduce debt, control spending, and ultimately allow you to save more and
retire earlier.  We will talk about the true cost of credit and how to
prioritize your payment plans.
