OBJECTIVES: For ten consecutive years, JPFP has employed a
holistic approach to graduate student preparation by successfully
addressing the need for supporting, mentoring, coaching and nurturing
students during their graduate school experience. This holistic
approach, coupled with professional development training, undoubtedly
makes the JPFP one of the most unique and competitive graduate
fellowship programs available..
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants within the first three years of a full-time, graduate
program within a NASA-related STEM discipline. Persons who have
advanced to candidacy at the start of the award are ineligible to
apply. Open to U.S. citizens, including residents of Puerto Rico, the
Virgin Islands, and other U.S. territories. Note: Permanent residents
and non-US citizens are ineligible for the JPFP. Minimum 3.00 on a
4.00 grading scale (B average and above). If the applicant attends an
institution where scales other than 4.00 are used, the applicant's GPA
must correspond to a "B" average. Applicants must meet the
following: Must be a member of an underrepresented group, which
includes women, ethnic minorities and persons with disabilities
majoring in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM)
discipline. Must either be within the first 3 years of a graduate
program at an accredited, U.S. university OR be in the process of
applying to an accredited STEM graduate program. Note: Persons who
have advanced to doctoral candidacy are in-eligible. Non-Degree or
special status students who are enrolled in masters or doctoral level
courses are ineligible. If selected, students cannot participate in
any other federally-funded fellowship or scholarship program. Fellows
are required to be enrolled as a full-time student. Although the
fellowship is not renewable during the three-year period, the
availability of support for subsequent years is 1) subject to
availability of funds and 2) contingent upon certification to NASA by
the fellow's institution that the fellow is making satisfactory
academic progress toward an advanced degree.
