OBJECTIVES:  For ten consecutive years, JPFP has employed a<br>
holistic approach to graduate student preparation by successfully<br>
addressing the need for supporting, mentoring, coaching and
nurturing<br>
students during their graduate school experience. This holistic<br>
approach, coupled with professional development training,
undoubtedly<br>
makes the JPFP one of the most unique and competitive graduate<br>
fellowship programs available.. <br><br>
ELIGIBILITY<br>
 Applicants within the first three years of a full-time,
graduate<br>
program within a NASA-related STEM discipline. Persons who have<br>
advanced to candidacy at the start of the award are ineligible to<br>
apply. Open to U.S. citizens, including residents of Puerto Rico,
the<br>
Virgin Islands, and other U.S. territories. Note: Permanent
residents<br>
and non-US citizens are ineligible for the JPFP. Minimum 3.00 on a<br>
4.00 grading scale (B average and above). If the applicant attends
an<br>
institution where scales other than 4.00 are used, the applicant’s
GPA<br>
must correspond to a "B" average.   Applicants must
meet the<br>
following: Must be a member of an underrepresented group, which<br>
includes women, ethnic minorities and persons with disabilities<br>
majoring in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM)<br>
discipline.  Must either be within the first 3 years of a
graduate<br>
program at an accredited, U.S. university OR be in the process of<br>
applying to an accredited STEM graduate program. Note: Persons who<br>
have advanced to doctoral candidacy are in-eligible. Non-Degree or<br>
special status students who are enrolled in masters or doctoral
level<br>
courses are ineligible. If selected, students cannot participate in<br>
any other federally-funded fellowship or scholarship program.
Fellows<br>
are required to be enrolled as a full-time student. Although the<br>
fellowship is not renewable during the three-year period, the<br>
availability of support for subsequent years is 1) subject to<br>
availability of funds and 2) contingent upon certification to NASA
by<br>
the fellow’s institution that the fellow is making satisfactory<br>
academic progress toward an advanced degree. <br><br>
FUNDING<br>
 Fellowship Components consist of Tuition/Stipend Support:
$8500<br>
Tuition Offset and Annual Stipend -$24,000 Ph.D. Fellows, $18,000<br>
Master’s Fellows; Center-based Research Experience: $7000 stipend
for<br>
10 week research experience; Professional Development: Annual<br>
Symposium and Leadership Development Training; and Cohort<br>
Collaborative Community: Networking, Peer-to-Peer Mentoring and
Alumni<br>
