SYNOPSIS: The program is for graduate study leading to masters
or doctoral degrees in the fields of science, mathematics, and
engineering related to NASA research and development. In 2010, NASA is
expanding GSRP to include students that are interested in becoming
teachers or education administrators. This twelve month award requires
students to participate in a 10 week NASA Center or HQ-based research
experience at the NASA Center/HQ extending the GSRP Fellowship
award.

OBJECTIVES: The goal of the program is to cultivate additional
research ties to the academic community, to help meet the continuing
needs of the Nation's aeronautics and space workforce requirements by
increasing the number of highly trained scientists and engineers in
aeronautics and space-related disciplines, and to meet the Nation's
need to increase the number of highly trained teachers.
ELIGIBILITY
<p>Applicants must be U.S. citizens (permanent residents are not
eligible). Students may apply at any time during their graduate
program, or prior to receiving their baccalaureate degree, provided
they have been accepted to an accredited graduate program at a U.S.
college or university. All applicants must have a University Faculty
Research Advisor (who will be the Principal Investigator of the GSRP
Training Grant) from the institution where they plan to receive their
graduate degree. Graduating seniors accepted by a graduate school must
contact their graduate school department and request an advisor to
support the NASA research funded under the GSRP.</p>
FUNDING
<p>Fellowships are awarded for one year as training grants in
the amount of $30,000. (daj)</p>
