Dear Engineering Faculty,

Please make a note the important deadlines below and important procedural changes to adding students to your classes and dropping students.

Unlike in legacy, my.SDSU will not allow enrollment beyond the published class enrollment limit. If additional students can be accommodated beyond the published enrollment limit, faculty should work with their department to increase the enrollment limit of their course (note: enrollment may not exceed the room capacity). The last day that waitlists are active is January 24 at 11:59 p.m. Students cannot add themselves to the waitlist after this time, nor will they be enrolled from the waitlist after this point. The waitlist will be purged on January 25th. Data from an archived copy of waitlist information will be available should it be needed.

Beginning January 25, students must acquire a permission number from the course instructor in order to add a course. The Office of the Registrar will generate general permission numbers in batch for all courses by 8am on January 25th. Faculty will be able to locate permission numbers within their Faculty Center in my.SDSU. Faculty should be aware that each permission number should be given to only one student. Faculty can check the “Issued” box when providing a permission number to a student in order to track which numbers have been assigned. If a student enrolls with a permission number and subsequently drops the class, they will need a new permission number in order to re-enroll. If additional permission numbers are needed, faculty should contact their department for assistance.

Students may be administratively dropped from classes through the 8th day of classes (January 27 at 11:59 p.m.). Faculty may request these drops if:

  * The student is not in attendance at the first class meeting and is also not present at the start of the second class meeting.
  * The student does not meet the course requirements as listed in the University Catalog<https://catalog.sdsu.edu/index.php>. Students must be provided an opportunity to provide verification of requisites prior to the drop request submission.

Faculty should submit drop requests no later than January 26th at 11:59 p.m. to ensure sufficient processing time before the drop deadline (1/27 at 11:59 p.m.).
