Subject: NSF ERC program: Consults with NSF and second public Q&A
To: <NSF-ENG-EEC at listserv.nsf.gov>
Dear Colleagues,
27 July, 2022
The NSF ERC program is pleased to announce Consults with ERC Program
Directors, additional Web resources, and a second Q&A session for the
community to answer further and more advanced questions now that we are
closer to submission deadlines.
ERC Program Director Consultation Scheduling: https://tinyurl.com/ConsultERC
The ERC program team is providing 20 min timeslots for preliminary proposal
consultations. This consultation is not intended to evaluate technical
idea, but to address program fit and other program related questions. Prior
to the meeting, teams must provide 2 documents: a 1-page summary of the ERC
concept and engineered system, and accompanying 3-plane chart. These
documents should be emailed to nsferc at nsf.gov.
Upcoming ERC Q&A Session number 2: The NSF Directorate for Engineering
will host a virtual Q&A about the Gen-4 Engineering Research Centers (ERC)
program solicitation (22-580) on August 4th at Noon - 1:00 PM ET
The Engineering Research Centers (ERC) program supports high-risk,
high-payoff research centers focused on advancing engineered systems
technology and education through multidisciplinary, cross-sector
partnerships.
This virtual session will provide a brief overview of key FAQs, and focus
primarily on attendee question and program response. Attendees are
encouraged to watch the webinar recording (which will not be replayed
during this second event) at the link below. Attendees, especially those
who are organizing their applications, are encouraged to come with
questions prepared! If you've got a great question e-mail it to
nsferc at nsf.gov in advance and we'll try and start with a selection of these
questions.
Register for the August 4th Q&A Session in advance at Register in advance
for this meeting:

The awards for each new ERC amount to well over $50 million over a decade,
in support of themes that have the potential for societal impact,
translation to the marketplace, and are centered around a systems
engineering approach. The NSF ERC solicitation page is at
