Dear SDSU Colleagues,
All members of the university community are invited to submit nominations
for the annual Senate Excellence in Teaching Award for the 2021-22 academic
year. The submission deadline is Thursday, March 17, and additional details
are below.
One distinguished SDSU faculty member will be honored and receive the title
Senate Distinguished Professor. *Qualified nominees may be tenured,
tenure-track (probationary) or FERP.*
The Senate Distinguished Professor is recognized for contributions made to
students, the faculty member’s respective academic discipline and the
campus communities. *The primary criterion of this award is teaching
excellence.* Requirements are as follows:
- Each nominee choosing to move forward *must submit his/her/their
materials to their college dean by Thursday, March 17.*
- Each college will forward one nominee to the Senate by emailing
senate at sdsu.edu <senate at sdsu.ed?subject=>, and the Chair of the Faculty
Honors and Awards Committee by emailing risa.levitt at sdsu.edu
<risa.levitt at sdsu.edu?subject=> by *Wednesday, March 30.*
- Application materials must be presented in one PDF document:
- A nominating letter from the dean’s office (2 page limit)
- A candidate dossier with examples of their achievements (5 page
limit)
- Up to three letters of support (2 page limit each)
- The full CV of the candidate
All college nominees will be honored at an awards ceremony, but only one
individual will receive the title Senate Distinguished Professor and
present a public lecture as part of the ceremony. This individual will also
receive a cash award.
