Hi Garoma —>

Just wanted to make sure any faculty or students in Engineering who are
interested in commercialization of their research know about this NSF
I-Corps opportunity … it will be offered in-person on our campus in two
intensive weekends this fall.

Successful completion of this program qualifies participating teams for
entry into the federal I-Corps program that includes $50K for moving the
ideas forward. (As I expect you are aware, Kevin Wood has transitioned
through both, and has some exciting commercialization opportunities on the
docket.) In addition, there is data showing that participants in I-Corps
programs have 3x greater success rate in obtaining federal grants for any
type of research, from basic to applied — a nice secondary perk of
participation in I-Corps.

Although the deadline is Friday, we’ll accept applications on Monday (and
potentially later if the faculty contacts me asking for an extension).
There is an expectation that teams will have an industry mentor, but we can
help with that if the team needs it.
