Colleagues,
An opportunity for STEM faculty to join a year-long PLC has just become
available:
MathWorks invites CSU faculty in Engineering, Mathematics, Biological
Sciences and other departments to work with their experts to develop
curriculum to integrate MATLAB and Simulink into their courses. They are
offering a small incentive to join a year-long PLC that will explore
concepts of flipping the classroom, automated grading, virtual instruction,
hands-on learning projects and more.
Please invite interested faculty to the *informational webinar on Friday,
May 3, 2019*, at noon (http://tiny.cc/matlab-csu-webinar).
More detail below; contact JP Bayard with questions.
Best,
Emily
Dear STEM Colleagues,
I am very pleased to announce a new and different project, stemming from
the partnership between MathWorks-MATLAB and the CSU. The project invites
STEM faculty from all 23 campuses (aided with a small stipend) to apply to
be part of a year-long Professional Learning Community (PLC) and develop
MATLAB modules for their courses.
*Here is the formal MathWorks announcement below *and, buried in it, is the
link to join the informational webinar on Friday, May 3, 2019, at noon (
http://tiny.cc/matlab-csu-webinar ). I hope to see you at the
informational webinar, and that you consider applying to join the PLC.
I sincerely apologize for sending this so close to finals and toward the
end of the academic year. This program is funded entirely by MathWorks,
and their approval only came through this morning. Despite this tight
timeline, I really think this opportunity is worth considering because of
the potential relationship with MathWorks, the leading developer of
mathematical computing software for engineers and scientists. I also
believe the application to be fairly straightforward. Thanks for
considering. JP and Your CSU Academic Technology Services Team
*Join the MathWorks and your CSU colleagues in developing modern curriculum
for your students!*
We are excited to partner with the CSU in developing modern curriculum to
support students in all disciplines. We are looking for faculty
participants who will receive a small incentive to work with MathWorks
experts on their curriculum development to ensure that Engineering,
Mathematics, Biological Sciences and other departments integrate MATLAB and
Simulink into their courses. The program will also offer opportunities to
attend networking events, workshops and conferences with your academic
peers. We will explore the concepts of flipping the classroom, automated
grading, virtual instruction, hands-on learning projects and more. The
end-result will also include the ability for universities to build up
student’s computational skills – preparing them for the workforce in a
multitude of domains!
