Dear Madhu,

Thank you for your feedback. You are right, we rushed this to amendment to comply with university policy file within the deadlines placed on us. Your feedback is indeed what we would expect if we brought this policy amendment to a regular faculty meeting. Faculty would review the changes proposed and make recommendations commending the work that has been accomplished ( even though it may not be perfect). We would reword the proposed changes and submit to faculty approval.

Last year Dr. Hayhurst's office was notified about the conflict between the college and university policy file. However his entire office was either looking for a job somewhere else or busy with planning for retirement, they could not attend this less important matter. At the beginning of this semester, this matter was brought to the attention of Dr. Mehrabadi's office with a short deadline. The proposal is rushed with the expectation that faculty will indeed read it and make sound recommendations. We plan improve the policy file during this semester and remove all redundancies and reword certain sections to the expectation of faculty. We received a few recommendations from faculty that will be very useful as our committee works on the policy file this semester.

Unless the redundancy is a deal breaker, I would like to ask the faculty to approve this to meet the compliance deadline and promise to rework the relevant sections of the policy file and bring before college faculty for continuos improvement before and during our end of semester meeting.

Yo have copied to Marcie Bober who is a professor in educational technology. I do not now if she is in the management chain therefore I removed her from the cc field. Please feel free to share with her if you think she should be in the loop

Best regards
Yusuf

Last year, Dean's office have been notified that certain sections of the COE policy file and bylaws are contradicting with University policy file. Unfortunately we failed to address the required changes on time last year due to changes in the office. Dr. Mehrabadi's office worked with Edith Benkov to address the problem and modified the sections of the bylaws that pertain to the RTP/Personnel committee. The suggested changes to the RTP/Personnel committee to bring it to compliance with the university policy have been reviewed and approved by Edith Benkov, It has been reviewed by the college executive committee and it has been reviewed and approved by college policy council.

Unfortunately the current college policy file is out of compliance with the university policy and we have been given a deadline of September 10 (today) to bring it to compliance. We have been working very hard to address this issue and meet the deadline.

If you kindly keep your responses addressed to me only we will avoid an explosion of emails. If you do not have any concerns regarding the changes, I will appreciate if you can vote via email sending me an "approved" message by the end of the day TODAY.

I apologize for rushing this matter to your votes on such a short notice and appreciate your support in getting this change approved.
