Greetings,   

 

On behalf of the USC Physical Sciences in Oncology Center , we would like to
extend an invitation to your students, faculty and researchers, to attend
our 2nd annual short course.  The USC PSOC short course is scheduled for
Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at the USC Davidson Conference Center, located at
the main campus (3415 South Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, CA 90089).  There
is no cost to attend this short course.  However, registration is required
and space is limited.   Please disseminate the attached flyer to interested
students, faculty, and researchers within your institution.      

 

This is a fantastic opportunity to acquire a fundamental understanding of
various disciplines and their relation to cancer.   

 

This course is sponsored by our USC Physical Sciences in Oncology Center,
which was selected by NCI/NIH as one of twelve PSOC research centers in the
nation.  The overall goals of the center are to take new, non-traditional
approaches to cancer research by studying the physical laws and principles
of cancer; evolution and evolutionary theory of cancer; information coding,
decoding, transfer and translation in cancer; and ways to de-convolute
cancer's complexity.   In addition, we have been charged to encourage
widespread collaboration and to build a new generation of scientists to lead
these transdisciplinary efforts.

 

 

Multidisciplinary Tutorials: clinical oncology . molecular, cellular, and
tissue biology . mathematical and computational modeling in biology .
cutting-edge cellular measurements . data mining . pathway-based discovery .
impact of stochastic processes in biology

 

This is a full day event beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 5:00 p.m.
Continental breakfast and lunch with be provided for registered attendees.
Additionally, we will have a reception and poster session in the evening
from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.  For more information regarding this event, please
