You or one of your students might have an "invention" that could be entered
into this competition.

Rand,
As I mentioned today at the SDSURF meeting, I am attaching information on a
new competition being held in San Diego. I think it would be great to see
some of our engineering students enter the competition. Can you forward
their announcement to the Chairs in the College of Engineering?
Thanks.
Sandy

Hi Sandy,
I am not sure if you remember meeting me but we met in your office back at
the end of October. How is everything going for you? I hope all is going
well for you in your courses as well as the EMC.
I am involved as a mentor in a new entrepreneur/inventor reality show in San
Diego called Inventing Profit (www.inventingprofit.com
<http://www.inventingprofit.com/> ). I thought that it would be appropriate
to ask for your help getting the word out about the call for contestants
since you are the EMC Director of Entrepreneurship as well as involved with
many other organizations around the San Diego. This show will take the
contestants through the stages of developing a hardware product including
getting your intellectual property, determining the customer, estimating the
market size, making prototypes, writing an executive summary, and pitching
your product to investors and buyers. The contestants will go through the
stages on camera and of course there will be competitions. We will provide
great guidance and real-world education throughout the program.
Please feel free to distribute the attached document to anybody who might be
interested in applying as a contestant. The last day for the panel to
receive a video submission is February 15, 2011.
Thanks for the help. You can have any potential contestants with questions
contact me directly.
Best regards,
Joe
