Software renewal - let me know if you are using either program in a course -
if so answer the few questions.

Sorry to bother you but typical nonfaculty effort to interrupt us during
busy times.

Subject: License renewal justifications: SPSS and MiniTab

Associate Deans:

As the fiscal year approaches its end, we need to consider renewing software
licenses. Given budget constraints, Academic Affairs is looking for
justifications for renewing Minitab ($6,000) and SPSS ($58,000).

For your college:

Are either of these products being used by faculty in your college?

Have faculty built curriculum around these products?

Are there other less costly statistical packages that could be used as a
replacement for MiniTab and SPSS?

Are either of these products installed in computing labs in your college?

Would you let me know by next Tuesday, May 3rd, please?

-John Ross
