Does anyone know students (from Japan or with Japanese language skills) who
might qualify? Please send names to Cindi. Thanks. David

Subject: Request from Kyocera Communications Re: Translator
Hi Elisabeth,
Thank you for your e-mail.
I think that it would be very effective if you could reach the following two
groups of students:
(1) American students in technical disciplines (computer science and
engineering) who are studying Japanese in advanced classes.
(2) Japanese students in technical disciplines.
I can reach Group 1 students for you.
For Group 2 students, you might wish to contact the following people:
Intenational Student Center
Ms. Lynn Eddy-Zambrano
Exchange and Education Abroad Advisor
International Student Center
Phone: (619) 594-2475
Fax: (619) 594-6805
E-mail: leddyz at mail.sdsu.edu
* Lynn is in charge of incoming international students. She certainly
knows how to read students from Japan.
There might be engineering/computer science students who are not from Japan
but fluent in Japanese, thus, not enrolled in Japanese courses. You might
wish to contact the Deans of the College of Sciences and the College of
Engineering in order to reach this group.

Ms. Cindi McClain (Assistant to Dean Hayhurst)
E-mail: cmcclain at mail.sdsu.edu
Phone: (619) 594-6062
In order to make your communications smooth, I cc’d this reply to the
people above.
I hope that you will be able to find a qualified student.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Thank you.

Hi we are still looking for an Intern or Student Translator would you know
who I can contact regarding posting this on SDSU bulletin board or do you
have any ideas of where to post this to get some inquiries.
What we are looking for is:
・ Bilingual (Japanese/English) student or intern
・ Studying or with a degree in a technical discipline (Computer
Science, Engineering [Electrical, Mechanical, etc.]).
・ Hours are probably limited to about 10-20 per week. This could be
split between two people, which might be better for us, since one person may
be unavailable on a given day or time.
・ The work would consist mostly of translation (not simultaneous) of
technical and project discussions between San Diego and the development
teams in Japan. These usually take place between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm
Mon-Thu, but could occasionally run longer. In addition, they might be asked
to do some document translation, which they could do on their own schedule.
