Chapter of the Society of Women Engineers as she invites you and your
daughters, granddaughters, nieces etc...to this year's Science &
Engineering's "Girl's Day Out". Please see attachments for additional

Dear SDSU Engineering Faculty,


On September 12, 2009 the Society of Women Engineers, Alpha Omega Epsilon
Sorority, the National Society of Black Engineers and SPAWAR Pacific will be
hosting an event entitled "Girl's Day Out".

The premise of this event is to showcase the value and fun that Science,
Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) can hold for middle school
girls in grades 6 through 8.  The girls will have the opportunity to visit
interactive STEM booths, tour the San Diego State Campus, hear from a female
Keynote Speaker and enjoy a pizza lunch!

The girls are placed into small groups which are led by female high school
and college students who share an interest and enthusiasm for STEM subjects.
The smaller groups allow for the girls to interact with their peers while
the high school and college students serve as a continuum of role models for
the middle school girls.

Parents are also separated into groups and will have the opportunity to tour
the campus, speak with a Student Panel comprised of leading STEM students
who can share what the college application process was like for them and
what their current experiences have been in college.

Space for this event is limited.  If you have a daughter in middle school or
high school and would like for her to attend, please review the attached
flyer for more information and how to RSVP!
