<p><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva;color:#000000;font-size:15px">We have received recent reports of individuals impersonating members of the university community using variations of SDSU faculty and staff personal and work email addresses. <br><br>Frequent targets include those who report to executives or work in financial or human resource departments whose information is readily available online.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva;color:#000000;font-size:15px">In light of these reports, we would like to remind members of the SDSU community of the following: </span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-family:verdana,geneva;color:#000000;font-size:15px">Be suspicious of emails with urgent requests from executives<br><br></li>
<li style="font-family:verdana,geneva;color:#000000;font-size:15px">Review the sending email address carefully to determine if it is an official SDSU address, i.e. <a href="https://it.sdsu.edu/security/protect/phishing.aspx" class="m_-4475803187647948586mktNoTrack" id="m_-4475803187647948586" style="color:#cc0000" target="_blank">janedoe@sdsu.edu</a><br><br></li>
<li style="font-family:verdana,geneva;color:#000000;font-size:15px">Verify with the apparent sender either by phone or in-person; do not reply to the request itself<br><br></li>
<li style="font-family:verdana,geneva;color:#000000;font-size:15px">Be particularly careful with domains that seem similar, but are not from <a href="https://it.sdsu.edu/security/protect/phishing.aspx" class="m_-4475803187647948586mktNoTrack" id="m_-4475803187647948586" style="color:#cc0000" target="_blank">sdsu.edu</a>, i.e. <a href="https://it.sdsu.edu/security/protect/phishing.aspx" class="m_-4475803187647948586mktNoTrack" id="m_-4475803187647948586" style="color:#cc0000" target="_blank">janedoe@sdsu.formsite.com</a> or <a href="https://it.sdsu.edu/security/protect/phishing.aspx" class="m_-4475803187647948586mktNoTrack" id="m_-4475803187647948586" style="color:#cc0000" target="_blank">janedoe@sdsuu.edu</a><br><br></li>

<li style="font-family:verdana,geneva;color:#000000;font-size:15px">Verify unusual requests for money with your supervisor or leadership before acting</li>
