<div dir="ltr"><b>I strongly recommend Ms Linh Ton, who has been in three of my courses.  She aced everyone of them, often smashing the class curve by being a statistical outlier (on the high side).  She is quiet but helpful to her classmates (when approached).  I can think of no better student to represent the very best from the SDSU College of Engineering.<br></b><div><b><br>Linh Ton<br>Major GPA 3.96 SDSU GPA 3.94</b><br><br></div><div>I urge your vote for her as our valedictorian.<br><br></div><div>Sincerely, Andrew Szeto<br></div></div><div class="gmail_extra"><br><div class="gmail_quote">On Mon, Apr 11, 2016 at 3:55 PM, Donovan Geiger <span dir="ltr"><<a href="mailto:dgeiger@mail.sdsu.edu" target="_blank">dgeiger@mail.sdsu.edu</a>></span> wrote:<br><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"><div dir="ltr"><div><div>Engineering Faculty and Staff: <br><br></div>As the departmental outstanding graduates have been selected, voting for Engineering <span>Valedictorian</span> will now take place. Please select one and email me your choice by<b> <span style="color:rgb(255,0,0)"><span style="background-color:rgb(255,255,255)"><u>12:00pm, Wednesday April, 13th</u>. </span></span><br></b><br></div>The candidates are:<br><br><b><br>Ace Elacio<br>Major GPA 3.88, SDSU GPA 3.85<br></b><br>Ace Barrera Elacio, who will graduate with honors and receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering in May 2016, was selected as an Outstanding Student in the Aerospace Engineering class of 2016.  He will be graduating with the highest overall and major GPA in his graduating class at San Diego State University. <br><br>Ace is a military dependent.  Throughout his life, he was transferred between a multitude of schools and has been exposed to an abundance of foreign cultures and environments, which is reflected in Ace’s flexibility and compassion for others.  With Ace’s father being deployed on a regular basis, a working mother, and a younger sister, Ace was groomed at a young age to take on a considerable amount of responsibility for his family.  With his father having retired from the US military in 2010, the Navy could no longer sponsor his education in Japan.  Ace returned to the United States on his own at the age of sixteen, leaving his family in Yokosuka, Japan.  Under the close watch of his extended family, Ace continued his studies and graduated high school as both a student athlete and a distinguished scholar with high honors. Moving forward, he made a home for himself in San Diego, California, his original place of birth.  As the son of a United States Military Veteran, Ace was instilled with the values of discipline, perseverance, integrity, and attention to detail; qualities that have been integral to his success.  With a financially struggling, yet supportive family, Ace has been highly driven to excel and compete in the classroom, as with all other pursuits.<br><br>Fortunate enough to be able to attend school on his father’s veterans benefit, Ace took full advantage of his time at SDSU.  Ace is a perennial dean’s lister, earning high marks consistently throughout his college career.  In addition to this, he is well involved at SDSU, particularly with research on composite structures to extend the life cycles of Navy F/A-18 fighter jets, under the guidance of Professor Satchi Venkataraman.  His research has allowed him to serve as a leading officer in SDSU’s DesignBuildFly Team and, recently, as a composite design expert for SDSU Rocket Project.  Ace will be applying to both Navy Officer Candidate School and Air Force Officer Training School.<br><br>_________________________________________<br><br><b><br>Edward Padilla<br>Major GPA 3.86 SDSU GPA 3.20</b><br><br>Edward Padilla grew up in Coachella, California where he would work in the vineyards while attending Coachella Valley High School.  Originally, he enrolled in San Diego State University as a Criminal Justice major, until an engineering elective encouraged him to follow his dream of being a builder. In his years of attendance, Edward has been involved in AGC/CMAA student chapter, Kappa Alpha Order greek fraternity, and the ASC Reno Competition. Upon graduation, Edward plans on utilizing his Construction Engineering degree to work on large commercial projects for a General Contractor. He later plans on obtaining his Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) – Accredited Professional and Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) – Certified Construction Manager credentials. Furthermore, his biggest goal is to serve as a role model and as an influence for others in his community.<br><br><b>_________________________________________<br><u><br></u><br>Linh Ton<br>Major GPA 3.96 SDSU GPA 3.94</b><br><br>We will recommend Linh Ton who is the best student described by faculty. She has almost a perfect GPA, 3.96. She is outstanding and very worthy students who will be graduating in Ma
