<div dir="ltr"><div class="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr">In case you have not heard, the University announced three Areas of Excellence today and Engineering faculty are involved in all three:<br><br></div><div dir="ltr"><b>1. Smart Health Institute: Wearable Biomedical Sensors for Precision Medicine</b><br><br>Core Faculty: Kee Moon, Sam Kassegne, and Yusuf Ozturk and two others.<br>Other Faculty involved: Mahasweta Sarkar and Kaveh AkbariHamed and 4 others.<br><br>This AoE proposes two new Engineering faculty hires as follows:<br><br>Mechanical Engineering – Associate or Assistant Professor: The proposed new faculty hire could be for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position at all levels (assistant, associate, or full professor) in the area of nanoscience and nanotechnology, with emphasis on nanomaterials, or biological and environmental nanosensors. <br><br>Electrical and Computer Engineering - Assistant Professor: Biomedical circuits and systems are demanding with extreme power limitations. Addition of a new faculty member in the area of mixed-signal and digital circuits will enable the Smart Health Institute to miniaturize the sensors  and circuits they develop  and   address  critical research problems in areas of low power IC design and low power communicatio<span style="font-size:13px">n. </span><br></div><div dir="ltr"><span style="font-size:13px"><br></span></div><div dir="ltr"><b>2. Blue Gold: Mitigating the Effects of Water Scarcity</b></div><div dir="ltr"><br>Core Faculty: Natalie Mladenov and 4 others.<br>Other Faculty: Alicia Kinoshita and 7 others.</div><div dir="ltr"><span style="font-family:Calibri;font-size:11pt"><br></span></div>This AoE proposes one new Environmental Engineering faculty hire in the area of reuse and treatment technologies.</div><div class="gmail_signature">  <div><b>3. Digital Humanities and Global Diversity</b></div><div><br></div><div>Core Faculty: Mahasweta Sarkar.</div><div><br></div><div>Please join me in congratulating the above faculty for their outstanding accomplishments.</div><div><br></div><div>Thanks,</div><div><br></div><div>Monte</div><div class="" title="Page 1"><div class=""><div class=""><div class="">
