The only exceptions are Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering. I wish to reorganize these two programs so that both report to a single chair.

Dr. Monte Mehrabadi has agreed to lead a committee comprised of faculty from both the Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering programs to accomplish this task. The purpose of this committee is to develop a new department that will serve both programs, maintaining accreditation and assuring sustainability of each. I have asked Monte to organize the committee immediately and provide me a preliminary report of their progress no later than the end of the spring semester. During the interim, Dr. Allen Plotkin will remain as chair of Aerospace Engineering.

There are clearly many commonalities both in the teaching and research efforts of Mechanical and Aerospace faculty, as well as many distinct differences.
