<p class=MsoNormal>To College Staff,<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>I have attached the recommended furlough calendar from Academic
Affairs for the spring semester. Each staff member is once again required
to take two furlough days during each month. For the spring, there is a
change in the agreement with the CSUEU which allows staff to take more than one
day in a week.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>This spring, there are 4 mandatory furlough dates (purple)
during which the university will be closed. They are:<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Mon. Jan. 4<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Fri. Jan. 15<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Fri. May 28<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Tues. June 1<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>During all other months staff should schedule their furlough
days in conjunction with their supervisor, after considering operational needs.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>In order to both coordinate staff activities and to make the
impact of furloughs more visible, Academic Affairs has again designated
recommended dates (pink) as the day they recommend staff take furloughs, so
that all are out on the same day. It is not required that staff take
these days, just recommended.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>The College of Engineering Administrative Staff have agreed
to generally follow the faculty affairs recommended days, as we did in the fall;
you can generally expect college offices to be closed on the “pink”
days. This is, however, subject to individual adjustment and scheduling needs.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Please note that, during the week of spring break (March 29 –
April 2), it is possible to schedule both recommended and floating furlough
days so that (along with the Caesar Chavez Holiday) a person could take the
entire week off. Doing this would use all furlough days for both March
and April. Whether to close or remain open is at the individual
departments’ discretion. Please keep the Dean’s Office
informed of your decision.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>It is important that we, in the Dean’s Office, know
attendance in the building on any day, <i>as it is always the day that you are
not here that someone is in the Dean’s Office looking for you</i>. So,
please keep Carly informed when you are scheduling your furlough days. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Hope this is clear and helpful, let me know if you have questions.<o:p></o:p></p>
