Subject: Academic Affairs Furlough Calendar

Dear Colleagues,

For immediate distribution:

The SDSU furlough calendar for staff and management has been approved through
February 2010.

Mandatory furlough days are identified on the calendar posted on the HR web
site. For the remainder, we are recommending that, beginning in
September, offices in the Division of Academic Affairs consider closing on the
same days for maximum efficiency, cost savings, and managing workload. We will need to add one day in November and
the months following February are still being reviewed by the Chancellor's
Office, but for now, the Academic Affairs recommended furlough days are:

September 4 & 18
October 2 & 16
November 25
February 12 & 26

Please circulate these dates and discuss them with your office staff, and ask
your chairs and directors to do the same as soon as possible. Represented
employees have the right to request different furlough days, but we hope they
will see the advantages of closing offices across the Division on common days.

We will discuss this at the ADC meeting and the chairs/directors informational
sessions, along with the faculty furlough agreement.

Faculty are not included in this plan, although 12-month chairs may wish to
follow it. (And please remind them that they need to take two furlough
days in August.) As soon as I have further information on guidelines for
faculty, I will send them to you.

Thank you.

Bonnie
