To Faculty and Staff:



I am pleased to inform you that Dr. Dongye Zhao will be joining the
Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering as
Professor and Chair effective August 16, 2022.



Dr. Zhao has been a Professor and Auburn Alumni Engineering Council Endowed
Chair at the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Auburn
University since 2019. He earned his Bachelor (in Civil and Environmental
Engineering) and Masters (in Environmental Engineering) of Science degrees
from Taiyuan University of Technology, China, in 1984 and 1987,
respectively, and his Ph.D. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering
from Lehigh University in 1998.



After a postdoctoral fellowship in Connecticut, Dr. Zhao joined Auburn
University as Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering in 2001 and was
promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in 2006. He is the recipient of
numerous awards: Dr. Zhao is included in the Stanford University list of
top 1% scientists in environmental sciences in the world, since 2020; and
the Clarivate list of top 1% most cited scientists in the world, since 2021.


Please join me in welcoming Dr. Zhao to the CCEE Department and the College
of Engineering in August.



I would like to thank the members of the Search Committee for their
diligent efforts throughout the search.



Also, please join me in thanking Dr. Janusz Supernak for his valuable
service as the CCEE Department Chair. Janusz will start his FERP on August
16, 2022, after serving SDSU for 38 years.
