[Staff] SDSU-Haz-Mat Code Compliance

To Engineering Faculty and Staff:

I was in several meetings this week regarding Chemicals and Control Areas
in various facilities. Before any renovation project is approved, the CSU
system will require us to be compliant with the Haz-Mat Inventory document
(attached).  As a first step to comply with the code, I request that each
one of you prepare an inventory list of all chemicals you store and use in
your labs (in the form of an Excel spreadsheet). Please email the list to
Marcie (with a copy to me) so that we can get approval to store such
chemicals safely in your labs. In many instances, a chemical may be used in
the lab but not stored.

For those of you who are moving to the A-Lot Building in a couple of weeks,
please have the inventory ready in time because only chemicals that comply
with the code can be stored in your new labs.   Also before any renovation
work can begin in the E-building, we need to have the inventory of
chemicals submitted to our Project Management Office.
