Zahn Center celebrates its one year anniversary!
Like all great entrepreneurial ventures, the Zahn Center started with a bright idea.  Mr. Irwin Zahn believes “there are so many creative people that, if just given the opportunity and a little guidance, they will change the world.”  The idea began the construction of the center in late 2011 and opened its doors in March 16th 2012 to the first 6 teams.  One year and 13 teams later, the Zahn Center provides technical and non-technical Zahn Center students access to a machine shop and 3D printer for prototyping, marketing studies provided by MBAs, entrepreneurship workshops, mentors, and much more. From the 13 companies incubating, several are getting ready for their alpha launch and raising their initial funding.

Our admission application is very clear, we are open to all students, faculty, and staff--and that is what we have achieved.  The Zahn Center cultivates a diverse environment that strengthens each company.  We are incubating both faculty as well as student based teams.  Within the student teams, we see undergrad, master, and Ph.D. students.  Not just that, the array of departments represented has impressed everyone. To keep it short, the departments of business, engineering, biology, art, political science, and geography are here.

Mr. Brian Dovey, partner of Domain Associates, visited the Zahn Center March 6th. After graduating from the Harvard MBA program, he became the President of Survival Technology. Mr. Dovey showed a great interest in the Zahn Center. He believes the Zahn Center has the potential to incubate companies that Venture Capital or angel investors could fund.

Zahn Center company Jobioz, Inc. is close to launching their alpha 1.0 version of the online platform that will help connect students to careers; their beta version will be launch as SDSU students approach graduation in May. The company also launched a crowd-funding campaign and their goal is to raise $30,000 in the next fifty days.
