**2nd Annual Zahn Challenge**
November 7th was a special day for the Zahn Innovation Center and San Diego State University. Students, faculty and staff representing every SDSU College participated in the 2nd Annual Zahn Challenge. The 2013 Zahn Challenge consisted of SDSU entrepreneurs with innovative ideas in the area of commercial enterprises, social enterprises, and social projects.

10 winning teams representing the most promising ideas out of the 89 Zahn Challenge applicants shared $50,000. The Zahn Challenge finalist presented to a panel of judges composed of respected entrepreneurs from our San Diego community. Among them was alumni Richard Kerr, the first Zahn Innovation Center Executive Director and a major financial supporter of the Zahn Challenge. Thank you Rich!

The 10 winners' journey does not end with the competition. The 10 winners have been automatically admitted to the Zahn Innovation Center. Beyond the winners, an additional 7 more teams have been admitted bringing the total teams admitted from the 2013 Zahn Challenge to 17. As of today, the Zahn Innovation Center has 34 teams under incubation.

Without a doubt San Diego State University is a place where entrepreneurial ideas can flourish.

**New Teams in the Zahn Center**
If you have ever had wine that has gone bad you’ll love the Wine Reader. The Wine Reader is a reusable wine stopper that indicates if your wine bottle is close or has already gone bad. This new product is being developed by pHine Wines, a new Zahn team and a winner in the 2nd Annual Zahn Challenge.

Another exciting new team in the Zahn Innovation Center is Generosity. Generosity is a social enterprise that aims to make an impact by helping homeless. Their mobile app will offer an alternative to giving cash to homeless. When the user sees someone in need and feels compelled to give, they can use Generosity's app to offer help directly to an organization that will benefit the individual in need.

**Zahn Innovation Center Needs Your Help**
Just before the Zahn Challenge winners were announced at the Awards Celebration on Nov 7th, SDSU President Elliot Hirshman remarked that the Zahn Innovation Center’s continued success depends on support from our friends in the community.

I would appreciate your help spreading the word. Please pass along our Give to Zahn Center site to anyone that might be interested in making a tax-deductible donation to support the Zahn Innovation Center. Donations of all sizes are greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Happy Holidays!
