Dear Colleagues,

I just received word from Brian Spitzberg, the Chair of the Senate Committee
on Faculty Honors and Awards, that our own Dr. Valdes has been selected as
the 2010-11 Excellence in Teaching Award, and will carry the title of
"Senate Distinguished Professor."

Dr. Valdes will be honored in a celebration on April 25 at 10 am in Casa
Real, where he will give a public lecture. Please try to attend if possible
to show our support and appreciation for his efforts!

Please join me in congratulating Julio on this well-deserved recognition!
