Subject: Campus Earthquake Drill, October 21
Hi all,
I want to give you a preview of information that will be out soon related to
our campus emergency drill this fall. Sally recently shared the information
with the campus Vice Presidents.
On October 21, in conjunction with the state-wide earthquake drill, a
campus-wide "Drop, Cover, and Hold" exercise will take place at 10:21 a.m.
Faculty, staff, students, and auxiliary organizations are being encouraged
to participate. We will be spreading the word using a variety of campus
resources (i.e., NewsCenter, campus Events calendar, @State newsletter,
Email communications, flyers with pay warrants, Blackboard, faculty
mailboxes, department safety coordinators, A-frame signage). Details and
additional information related to the drill, including ideas for ways to
participate, will be sent out beginning tomorrow and during the coming
weeks.
In addition to the "Drop, Cover, and Hold" exercise, between 10:15 and 10:45
a.m. University Police will test the Mass Notification System (loud
speakers) across campus and MarComm will test SDSU Alert (text messaging) to
remind the campus community of the communication tools that may be used
during an actual emergency. The SDSU home page (Urgent Information) and the
Emergency Information Line (866-794-8832) will also be updated with
information related to the drill. No buildings evacuations will take place
during the drill.
Feel free to share this email with others in your departments. NewsCenter
will remain the main source of information related to the drill, but please
contact me if you or any of your departments have questions or need
assistance with preparing for the drill.
Thank you,
Nancy
