OBJECTIVES: The Department of Energy National Nuclear Security<br>
Administration Stewardship Science Graduate Fellowship (SSGF)

provides outstanding benefits and opportunities to students pursuing
a<br>
Ph.D. in areas of interest to stewardship science, such as
high-energy<br>
density physics, low-energy nuclear science, or properties of<br>
materials under extreme conditions. Fellows also participate
in<br>
research at a DOE laboratory. <br><br>
ELIGIBILITY<br>
This program is open only to U.S. citizens and permanent
resident<br>
aliens studying at a U.S. university who are exceptional senior<br>
undergraduates or are in their first or second year of graduate<br>
study. <br><br>
FUNDING<br>
This program provides: a yearly stipend of $36,000; full
tuition<br>
and required fees paid during the appointment period (at any<br>
accredited U.S. university); an annual $1,000 academic allowance to
be<br>
used for research or professional development expenses; payment of<br>
travel costs related to the annual fellowship conference, laboratory<br>
visits and other conferences; augmentation of the stipend during the<br>
12-week research practicum at a DOE laboratory; and the potential to<br>
renew the fellowship for up to four years. (msw) <br><br>
