OBJECTIVES: <br>
The sponsor provides support to advance the arts, sciences and<br>
technology of aeronautics and astronautics. The sponsor encourages<br>
original research that furthers dissemination of new knowledge,<br>
fosters the professional development of those engaged in scientific<br>
and engineering activities, improves public understanding of the<br>
profession and its contributions, fosters education in engineering
and<br>
science, promotes communication among engineers and scientists as
well<br>
as other professional groups, and stimulates outstanding
professional<br>
accomplishments. <br><br>
ELIGIBILITY<br>
Students do not have to be members of the sponsor's organization
to<br>
apply, but must join prior to receiving an award. The applicant's<br>
scholarship plan shall be such as to provide entry into some field
of<br>
science or engineering encompassed by the technical activities of
the<br>
sponsor. Freshmen and graduate students are not eligible. <br><br>
FUNDING<br>
Awards are for $2,000 each year. Sophomores and juniors
receiving<br>
an award are eligible for continuation of the award until completion<br>
of their senior year, provided they maintain eligibility. Renewal is<br>
