OBJECTIVES: The sponsor provides support for underrepresented
undergraduate students to participate in hands-on research with
leading UCLA faculty in science, technology, engineering and
mathematics (STEM) fields.
ELIGIBILITY
# Applicants must be undergraduates in their junior year who are
interested in pursuing a science, technology, engineering and
mathematics (STEM) doctoral degree. Students must be from backgrounds
that are underrepresented in STEM doctoral fields and in accordance
with the NSF (African Americans, Hispanics, American Indians, Alaska
Natives, Native Hawaiians or other Pacific Islanders). Students must
be a US citizen or permanent resident. Priority will be given to
applicants who are attending Historically Black Colleges and
Universities (HBCU), Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI), Minority
Serving Institutions (MSI), Tribal Colleges and Universities Programs
(TCUP) or California State Universities (CSU).
FUNDING
The program includes travel reimbursement, on-campus housing (all
program participants are required to reside in assigned University
housing), meal allowance, GRE test preparation, workshops, seminars
and poster presentations. The duration of the program is eight weeks.
