OBJECTIVES: Employment appointments are designed to provide the
sponsor's scientific and engineering staff with technical assistance.
Rather than designing their own research program, temporary employees
are assigned specific technical tasks. Understanding of the scientific
basis for the temporary employee's work is generally not
emphasized.

ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for an appointment, a student must have a grade
point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, currently enrolled as an
undergraduate or graduate student, be 18 years or older at the start
of the program, and is required to have a health insurance policy in
force while at Argonne. The Laboratory policy requires that at the
time of employment, prospective employees pass a background check.
