I'm also <span style="font-size:12.8px">writing to ask for your support. </span></div><div style="font-size:12.8px"><br></div><div style="font-size:12.8px">As you may know, for nearly 20 years, SDSU used to house the Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program, which provides academic support, research experience, and summer stipends to 25 First-Generation, Low-Income, and also URM students, but the funding was lost 5 years ago. </div><div style="font-size:12.8px"><br></div><div style="font-size:12.8px">We are now eligible to re-apply for the program. I'm hoping you'll send us a short but strong letter of support. </div><div style="font-size:12.8px"><br></div><div style="font-size:12.8px">As part of the scoring criteria, the department of Education needs to see evidence of institutional commitment for the McNair program from faculty. The CoS is committed to providing in-kind time, and office space and resources to the program and we think that your commitment to devote your time to mentoring students from our program (and perhaps your willingness to serve on our advisory board) will help us demonstrate an even stronger institutional commitment. I hope we have your support as we believe it is critical to the success of the application. I've attached a letter of support template and and a short summary of the program for your reference. If you are willing to provide a letter of support, feel free to make any changes to the letter as you see fit.</div><div style="font-size:12.8px"><br></div><div style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">Since the application is due April 7th it would be ideal to receive your letter (electronically is fine) by March 27th.
