There are two contradictory clauses in the draft. Section 5.3 says
"For reappointment and tenure consideration, committee members
must be tenured faculty employees of any rank". However, section
2.1-B.1 says "... a departmental representative who shall be a
full time tenured faculty member with the rank of full
professor...".

Could you please clarify this contradiction?

Esteemed members of COE Faculty,
I am the parliamentarian for COE and I chair the college policy council. Last year, Dean's office have been notified that certain sections of the COE policy file and bylaws are contradicting with University policy file. Unfortunately we failed to address the required changes on time last year due to changes in the office. Dr. Mehrabadi's office worked with Edith Benkov to address the problem and modified the sections of the bylaws that pertain to the RTP/Personnel committee. The suggested changes to the RTP/Personnel committee to bring it to compliance with the university policy have been reviewed and approved by Edith Benkov, It has been reviewed by the college executive committee and it has been reviewed and approved by college policy council.
According to college policy file, any amendment to the college policy file should be presented to faculty by the college policy council in a college meeting for discussions and approval. Unfortunately the current college policy file is out of compliance with the university policy and we have been given a deadline of September 10 (today) to bring it to compliance. We have been working very hard to address this issue and meet the deadline.
I would like to ask your support to review the suggested changes to the college policy file offline and voice your concerns via email to me. If you kindly keep your responses addressed to me only we will avoid an explosion of emails. If you do not have any concerns regarding the changes, I will appreciate if you can vote via email sending me an "approved" message by the end of the day TODAY.
I know it is a very short deadline but unfortunately this was an task that had to be completed last year and faculty affairs gave us a deadline of today to bring the policy file in compliance with the university policy file. I apologize for rushing this matter to your votes on such a short notice and appreciate your support in getting this change approved.
Best regards
Dr. Yusuf Ozturk
COE Parliamentarian
