<div dir="ltr">To Engineering Faculty and Staff:<br><br>It is my pleasure to announce the appointment of Theresa M. Garcia as the Interim Assistant Dean for Student Affairs in the College of Engineering effective January 20, 2014.<br>
<br>Theresa joined SDSU in 1991. Since then she has served as the Director of Minority Science Program (1991-1993), as the Assistant Director of MESA (Mathematics, Engineering and Science Achievement) Engineering Program (MEP) (1993-1997), and as the Director of MESA (1997-present). In her role as the MESA Director, she has been assisting students with their professional and personal growth along with their academic success in preparing them for the STEM industry and and/or for graduate school. She has received over $2 million in grants and contracts from the National Science Foundation (NSF), MESA, and a host of other foundations and local companies.<br>
<br>Theresa who is a native of San Diego, earned a B.S. in Business Administration from SDSU in 1991 and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Student Affairs in May 2009.<br><br>Natasha Forbes-Celise has been appointed Interim Director of MEP effective January 20, 2014. Prior to being selected for this new assignment, Natasha held the position of Assistant Director of MEP.<br>
<br>Please join me in congratulating Theresa and Natasha on their new assignments.<br><br>The search for the Engineering Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and the MEP Director will begin in early Spring Semester.<br><div>
