As an Electronics Technician, he served two deployments in the Persian Gulf on a guided missile cruiser, the U.S.S. Cowpens, based in San Diego. In 2000, Micah received an honorable discharge from the Navy and began working for the Dept. of Homeland Security as a Telecommunication Specialist. He designed and maintained a federal law enforcement communication system used by the Border Patrol, DEA, FBI, and other government offices. He then began taking classes at Mesa College to qualify for transfer to SDSU’s Electrical Engineering program in the fall of 2006. Just before starting at SDSU, he accepted a position with BAE Systems and continued to work with law enforcement communications. For the next 5 years, he attended SDSU classes while working full time until completing his degree last December.
