organizations such as MEP, ASCE, ITE, Tau Beta Pi, and Chi Epsilon. Josiah
credits his strong desire to excel academically, along with an immense amount

Navy shortly after graduating from high school in 1993. As an Electronics
Technician, he served two deployments in the Persian Gulf on a guided missile
cruiser, the U.S.S. Cowpens, based in <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">San
Diego</st1:place></st1:City>. In 2000, Micah received an honorable discharge
from the Navy and began working for the Dept. of Homeland Security as a
Telecommunication Specialist. He designed and maintained a federal law
enforcement communication system used by the Border Patrol, DEA, FBI, and other
government offices. He then began taking classes at <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName
w:st="on">Mesa</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">College</st1:PlaceType></st1:place>
to qualify for transfer to SDSU’s Electrical Engineering program in the
fall of 2006. Just before starting at SDSU, he accepted a position with
BAE Systems and continued to work with law enforcement communications. For the
next 5 years, he attended SDSU classes while working full time until completing
his degree last December. Micah is still employed at BAE Systems and is now
married to his wife, Hiroko, and has two children, Nicholas and Jewel.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

<st1:country-region w:st="on">Norway</st1:country-region>, Thomas Bruget spent
his junior year of high school as a foreign exchange student in <st1:place
w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Thousand Oaks</st1:City>, <st1:State w:st="on">California</st1:State></st1:place>.
On top of enjoying the sunny, beautiful weather, Thomas made many great friends
during this year, making it an easy decision to return to southern <st1:State
w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">California</st1:place></st1:State> to attend
SDSU. Thomas naturally excelled in math and science and after speaking with Dr.
Mehrabadi, he was convinced that mechanical engineering was the perfect fit.
Outside of classes he worked on Dr. Bhattacharjee’s flame tower project
and was active in Tau Beta Pi. In the fall, Thomas will be going to Stanford to
pursue a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, and possibly an MBA.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
