Dear Principal Investigators,
The Division of Research and Innovation and Technology Transfer Office are
excited to announce the return of the *SDSU Pilot Innovation Fund
<http://click.comms.sdsu.edu/?qs=7c4a2af5fe01a63bc715eb965eac4951313e1bbc19359a5a01d27678ddc9644eec3e716cd09db40c2cabcbc0dc9e00886643b3235dafbf68>
*(PIF)
for the third year since its launch in Summer 2021. The PIF helps faculty
transition their research-based innovations toward commercial readiness in
furtherance of SDSU’s commitment to bringing problem-solving innovations to
the public.
PIF awards are intended to help faculty develop innovations in order to
reach milestones that demonstrate their value to potential corporate
partners, investors, or customers. Projects can receive up to $45,000 in
funding and are expected to be completed within one year. The TTO
anticipates making 2 to 3 awards in 2023.
While 2- to 3-page pre-proposals are not due until June 16, 2023, it is
important that faculty interested in applying for PIF funding plan to
complete a TTO-approved commercialization education program in advance.
*ZIP Launchpad Faculty and Researcher Innovation Workshop *
One efficient way to satisfy the commercialization education requirement
and become eligible to apply for PIF funding is through participation in
the *SDSU ZIP Launchpad Faculty and Researcher Innovation Workshop
