ABSTRACT:
Using numerical schemes to solve the Navier-Stokes equations for fluid
behaviors is generally complicated. If the vector values reside on a
non-regular or curvilinear grid, the vector values become more challenging
to calculate. The Mimetic operator library enhanced (MOLE), available in
C++ and in MATLAB, provides the Mimetic Operators divergence, gradient,
and Laplacian needed to solve the incompressible Navier Stokes Equations.
These operators work on regular and curvilinear grids. Can these be used to
solve the Navier Stokes equation on an arbitrary curvilinear grid? In this
talk, I will discuss the aspects of mimetic operators and their advantage
in this particular situation. I will go over the techniques used and their
benefits concerning my chosen schemes. I also review what types of grids
are optimal for this MOLE library and show the results of four fluid
dynamics benchmark cases solved using these MOLE operators.
