[Faculty] Fwd: Guidelines for Awarding Tuition Fee Waivers to Engineering JDP Students

Dear Colleagues,

As noted before, the tuition fee waivers for Engineering JDP students will
be allocated according to the attached guidelines.  Here is a brief
overview of the guidelines:

   - The current allocations of tuition waivers for the Engineering JDP are
   60 for basic tuition waivers and 30 for nonresident tuition waivers (NRTW).
   Nonresident students are required to pay both basic and nonresident tuition
   fees.
   - Tuition waivers shall be awarded annually in the spring semester for
   the upcoming academic year.
   - Basic tuition waiver awards are for one academic year, and at the end
   of each academic year, all waivers will be placed back into a pool for the
   next academic year allocation.
   - Nonresident Tuition Waiver (NRTW) awards are used to recruit
   nonresident students. The waivers remain for ten semesters for
   international students and for out-of-state students, NRTW is intended to
   serve as a stopgap until the students can establish California residency
   for tuition purposes.
   - When a student on tuition waiver graduates or withdraws from the
   program, the waiver will be put back into the pool.
   - Faculty advisors are responsible for paying tuition fees for students
   without waivers.

*If you will have continuing students and/or currently recruiting students
for the 2023/24 academic year, we need the following information as soon as
possible:*

   - The names of continuing students and their residency status (CA
   resident or nonresident)
   - The names or numbers (if the names are not available at the moment) of
   the students you are recruiting and their status (CA resident or
   nonresident)

Starting from the 2023/24 academic year, the tuition fee waivers for
Engineering JDP students will be allocated according to the attached
guidelines. If you will have continuing students and/or recruiting new
students into the program for the Fall 2023 semester, please review the
guidelines.

The deadline for the application for waivers for the 2023/24 academic year
is *December 15, 2022*.
