[Faculty] Engineering Joint Doctoral Program Faculty Orientation: September 24

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to share with you the slides from the subject meeting. If f
you plan to hire a JDP student and wanted to know the associated
costs, please review the slides on pages 27 through 33. In particular, if
you plan to pay the contribution to Engineering JDP tuition fees from
grants managed by the SDSURF, use “Engineering JDP Excellence Fee” as a
line-item budget. Use the following description for budget justification.

*Engineering JDP Excellence fee* - These funds are used to enhance student
academic support services, advisement, and experience both in and out of
the classroom. The funds are also used to organize workshops that focus on
the preparation of fellowship applications. In addition, the funds support
graduate students training to improve their participation and
competitiveness in securing research funding, preparing graduate students
to become the next generation of scholars and career professionals.
