Dear CoE Faculty,
Applications are open for a unique leadership opportunity related to
equitable teaching for engineering faculty. We are seeking
engineering faculty members with a strong commitment to equity who would
like to join a community of practice focused on the thoughtful use of data
to inform improvement to their instruction. You will receive individualized
coaching and support from faculty peers about how to foster equity through
using data to identify biases in your teaching and other participation
patterns among your students, and leverage this data to make positive
changes in your practice.
You will meet with a group of peers to debrief approximately 3-4 times
throughout one semester. Between each meeting, your teaching will be
recorded and coded with the EQUIP observation tool (https://www.equip.ninja).
EQUIP will generate actionable analytics that can be used as a source of
reflection and ongoing improvement. This is a chance for you to participate
in a unique professional development opportunity where you will receive
intensive support and meaningful data about your own practice and build
community with similarly committed individuals.
This is an NSF-funded opportunity and you will receive a $750 stipend for
your participation in the research project.
*Application Process:* We request that you fill out this short application
form <https://forms.gle/SrR5QFc8S92XmCgY9> to express your interest,
with a *priority
deadline of September 6, 2021 by 5pm*. We will aim to include as many
participants as possible in the Fall 2021 cohort. If you apply after
September 6, 2021, you will be considered for the Spring 2022 cohort. For
participants who express interest but are not able to join the initial
cohort (due to size or scheduling constraints), we will aim to include you
in a future cohort during a later semester.
Sincerely,
*Matthew E. Verbyla, Ph.D.*
