Dear Colleagues,

The Division of Research and Innovation and Technology Transfer Office
(TTO) are excited to announce the launch of the *SDSU Pilot Innovation Fund

This fund will help faculty innovators transition their research-based
innovations toward commercial readiness and illustrates SDSU’s commitment
to bringing problem-solving innovations to the public.

Awards made from the Pilot Innovation Fund will be targeted to helping
faculty develop innovations in order to reach milestones that demonstrate
their value or reduce their risk to potential corporate partners, investors
or customers. Projects can receive up to $45,000 in funding and are
expected to be completed within one year. The TTO anticipates making 2 to
3 awards totaling $90,000 in this first round of funding.

Examples of projects eligible for this funding include, but are not limited
to:

   - Development of prototypes, software or user interfaces
   - Creation of a mobile application to disseminate a social sciences
   intervention
   - Validation of markets or commercial feasibility
   - Pre-clinical animal & medical device testing
   - Creation of a digital platform for intervention to improve public
   health outcomes
   - Addressing a specific barrier to licensing or fundraising identified
   by potential licensees or investors.

Eligible faculty should submit 2 to 3 page pre-proposals by June 2 at 5
p.m. to me at tmartindale at sdsu.edu
