*Marathon Construction Makes $100,000 Gift to Support SDSU Construction
Management*



We are pleased to announce that Marathon Construction has made a gift of
$100,000 to the AGC Chair Campaign for Construction Management.



SDSU is in the final stages of a California State University Review for
adding a Construction Management Major to the J.R. Filanc Construction
Engineering and Management Program in the College of Engineering.  Once the
Construction Management major is added, the Filanc Program will be one of
the very few in the nation to offer both Construction Engineering and
Construction Management.  Both will be ABET accredited.



The AGC Chair in Construction Management is being established to attract
and retain high-level faculty to the new Construction Management program.



“Industry support is key to the entire program,” said Dr. Thais Alves,
Associate Professor, AGC – Paul S. Roel Chair in Construction Engineering
and Management. “Without private gift support, the CSU system would
probably never approve the new major. We are very fortunate to have the
support of Marathon Construction.”



Earlier this year AGC San Diego made a lead gift of $700,000 toward the
$2.5 million AGC San Diego Chair Campaign at SDSU. Jim Ryan, Eddie Sprecco
and Mark Filanc and the AGC San Diego Board of Directors are spearheading
the campaign.



The College of Engineering is grateful for all those who provide much
